Dr. Brian Yang

Dr. Brian Yang is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in conditions of the hand, wrist, and upper extremity. He has particular expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques and provides care for a wide range of conditions including fractures and soft tissue trauma, trigger finger, arthritis, tendon injuries, nerve compression syndromes such as carpal and cubital tunnel, nonunion, Dupuytren’s disease, and other upper extremity conditions.

Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Yang graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University and earned his medical degree with Honors from Harvard Medical School. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, ranked #1 in the world for orthopedic surgery and recognized as the premier orthopedic surgery residency program. He then advanced his training with additional education in hand and microsurgery at the National University Hospital in Singapore.  This was followed by a fellowship in Hand & Upper Limb Surgery at Stanford University where he received integrated training in orthopedic and plastic surgery techniques, with a focus on complex soft tissue reconstruction and minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures. 

Dr. Yang has contributed significantly to the field of hand and upper extremity surgery, with over 35 peer-reviewed research publications in leading international journals such as The Journal of Hand Surgery, The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has also presented more than 40 scientific studies at national and international conferences and authored multiple book chapters.  He is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

With a strong academic background, advanced international training, and a commitment to patient-centered care, Dr. Yang provides tailored treatment plans that prioritize restoring function, reducing pain, and helping patients return to the activities they love.  Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, exploring new cuisines, and cheering for Michigan football.
