Dr. Andrew Tran, MD is a board-eligible fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon. He grew up in Orange County, California and earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA. He completed his medical degree cum laude from Georgetown University School of Medicine and finished his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland/R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He then returned to Los Angeles where he completed his fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute. Dr. Tran treats a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions involving the hip, knee, shoulder, ankle, and foot with a particular focus on sports-related injuries and restoring function for active individuals and athletes.
Dr. Tran has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented nationally on topics including shoulder instability, hip arthroscopy, and orthopaedic patient outcomes. His research has been featured in leading orthopaedic journals and he is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). In addition to his academic and clinical work, Dr. Tran has provided sports team coverage for high school, collegiate, and community programs, reflecting his commitment to patient and athlete care and injury prevention. Beyond medicine, he enjoys DJing, cooking, and collecting vinyl records.
